What is the New Jersey Insurance Discount Course?

The New Jersey Insurance Discount Course is a six-hour course approved by New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission to get a 5% or higher discount that lasts for 3 years.

The course covers traffic laws and techniques for driving safely on New Jersey roads. The specific topics are regulated by the New Jersey MVC and include:

How the New Jersey Insurance Discount Course Works

Complete the course in four easy steps:

Register.

Registration is quick and simple. Create a username and password, read some information about the course, and answer a few validation questions.

Take the Course.

The New Jersey Insurance Discount course consists of 8 short lessons made up of reading material, videos, animations and games on traffic laws and defensive driving techniques. There is a short multiple-choice quiz after each lesson that you must pass to proceed to the next lesson. You can take the lesson quizzes as many times as necessary to pass.

Pass the Final Exam.

At the end of the course, you must pass a short multiple-choice final exam. Most people pass the exam on their first attempt, but you can retake the exam as many times as necessary to pass. There is no charge to retake the final exam.

Receive Your Certificate of Completion.

We will email your Certificate of Completion to you after you pass the final exam. You can also print a copy of your certificate from your account. Sign the certificate and deliver it to your insurance provider to receive your insurance discount.

Must I finish the New Jersey Insurance Discount course in one sitting?

Most people pass the exam the first time. However, you can take the exam as often as necessary without any additional charge.

How will the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission know that I have completed the course?

We do not notify the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJ MVC) that you completed the Insurance Discount course. Please take our Defensive Driving or Mature Driver course if you want a point reduction.

How soon will I get my Certificate of Completion?

We will email your Certificate of Completion to you after you pass the final exam. You can also print a copy of your certificate from your account.
