Teens are busier than ever these days. It’s hard enough just to get to school every day. When you add in sports, clubs, jobs, and friends who live on the other side of town, teens spend a lot of time getting from Point A to Point B. Learning to drive and earning your driver’s license can help make the hustle and bustle a little easier. This usually means completing a driver education course. Indiana teens can take our new Indiana Driver Education course to get on their way to satisfying licensing requirements, prepare for the knowledge exam, or just brush up on their understanding of driving skills and laws.
There are many advantages to completing our Indiana Driver Education course. Let’s look at some together.
Get on your way to earning your learner’s permit at 15 years old.
If you’re eager to start learning to drive, our course can help! Indiana follows a Graduated Driver’s Licensing (GDL) program for Hoosiers under age 18, which means you’ll need to go through two stages before you get a fully unrestricted license. The GDL might sound like a hassle, but research shows that teens get in more collisions than more experienced drivers. The GDL program helps teens ease into the responsibilities of driving and allows them to gradually gain experience, which helps protect everyone on the road. Enrolling in our online driver education course is one requirement for earning a learner’s permit at 15 years old.
Qualify for your probationary driver’s license early.
The second step in the GDL process is the probationary license. This allows Indiana teens to drive without parental supervision after the first 180 days of holding your probationary license. There are other restrictions with a probationary license, such as limits to what time of day you can drive, and a strict no-cell-phone policy (except to call 911 in emergency situations).
By completing our course, in addition to other requirements, you can earn your probationary driver’s license when you are at least 16 years and 90 days old. Otherwise, you will need to wait until you’re at least 16 years and 270 days old. In addition to completing our course, you’ll also have to complete 50 hours of supervised driving practice (10 hours of which must be at night), complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training at a licensed driver training school, and pass the driving skills exam.
Our course is actually fun!
The state of Indiana requires driver education courses to be 30 hours long. If the idea of reading 30 hours of writing about driving laws stresses you out, we understand. That’s why we’ve made our course interactive and full of videos, animations, games, and stories. Our class is completely online, so you won’t spend any time sitting in a classroom. Per Indiana requirements, you can complete up to 3 hours of coursework per day. You can complete the course on your laptop, smart phone, or tablet - any device with an internet connection! Learn at your own pace from wherever you’re most comfortable.
