Florida Permit Test

Overview

What is the Florida Permit Exam?

The Florida permit test (also known as the Class E Knowledge Exam) is an exam on road signs and traffic laws that you must pass to qualify for a Class E Driver License in Florida. If you are under the age of 18, you can skip the hassle of taking the permit test at the Florida driver license agency and take the permit test online. That means you can take the permit test anywhere you have internet access--from the comfort of your own home, favorite coffee shop, or wherever is convenient for you!

How It Works

We make the process easy. Here's how it works:

  1. Register and pay. You'll create a username and password for your account and fill out your contact information. Make sure you have a unique identifier ready during registration, such as the first five digits of your social security number, an alien registration number, an admissions number, or a Florida ID card number.

  2. Pass the exam. The exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions on traffic laws and road signs. You must answer 40 questions correctly to pass. Each question is immediately graded as soon as you confirm your answer selection, so you will know right away if you got a question correct or incorrect. You should study the Florida Driver License Handbook to help you prepare for the test. You can view the Florida Driver License Handbook here.

Once you answer 40 questions correctly, you pass the exam and the exam will end. Your parent or guardian must supervise you while you take the exam. They are required to enter their Driver License number before you may begin the exam.

  3. Your completion will automatically be submitted to the Florida driver license agency for you once you pass the exam, so you don't have to worry about a thing.
