A mature driver who completes our defensive driving program for insurance purposes automatically receives a 3-point reduction on their driving record. In order to receive the point reduction, you must sign your certificate and send it to the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD). The ITD will then remove up to two points from your record. Note you are not able to use course completions against future points. In other words, you cannot save your credits. Point reductions can also be awarded only once every five years.
