How It Works

Get everything done in four easy steps!

1. Register

Registration is easy--simply create an account with a username, password and email address. You'll fill out your contact information and read some information about the course.

Please Note: If you are taking the course for a 2-point credit, you can only do so once every three years and up to five times in your lifetime. There is no limit to how many times you can complete the course to satisfy a court order, or to satsify a BMV requirement due to a suspended license.

2. Complete the 8-Hour Online Course

Enjoy short lessons full of games, animations, videos and other interactive multimedia elements. Each lesson is followed by a 10-question, multiple-choice quiz. You must score at least 80% to pass the lesson quiz and move on to the next lesson. Most people pass the lesson quiz on their first attempt, but we provide unlimited retakes of lesson quizzes at no additional cost. Review the lesson material and retake the quizzes until you pass!

Please Note: The State of Ohio requires that you complete the course within 30 days of creating your account. If you do not complete the course within 30 days, you must restart the course from the beginning.

3. Pass the Final Exam

At the end of the course, you must pass a 40-question, multiple-choice final exam. A passing score is 75%. According to Ohio rules, you are only allowed 2 attempts at the final exam, and you can only take one attempt per calendar day. If you fail the exam a second time, you must start the course over from the beginning. Safe2Drive does not charge you to start the course over.

4. Get Your Certificate

After you pass the final exam, we will process your completion to the Ohio BMV and email you your Certificate of Completion the same business day that you completed the course (Monday-Friday, excluding holidays), so long as you completed the course by 5 PM Eastern Time. If you completed after 5 PM ET, we will process your completion to the Ohio BMV and email you your certificate the following business day. If you are taking the course to satisfy a court order, you must present a copy of your certificate to your court.
