What is the difference between a Defensive Driving Course and a Driving Safety Course?

The short answer: none. They are the same thing. Both the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) use the term Driving Safety on their web sites and in nearly all their print material. Most people, including highway patrol officers and local police officers, use the term Defensive Driving.

The course is 6 hours long and is offered by schools who have been approved by the TDLR to offer it. You can tell if a school is approved by looking for its Course Provider Number ("CP Number") and School Number "C Number". Safe2Drive's numbers are CP557 and C2229. This shows we are approved by the TDLR.
